DiNapoli Presents Unclaimed Funds Checks At The New York State Fair

More Than $40,000 Returned to Central New Yorkers

State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli presented checks to nine Central New Yorkers today at the New York State Fair at his Office of Unclaimed Funds booth. The largest check, for $13,864.54 for an old bank account, was given to the Fryer Memorial Library in Munnsville.

“There is more than $40 million in unclaimed funds waiting to be claimed by Onondaga County residents, businesses and municipalities. This money belongs to the rightful owners and we want to give it back,” DiNapoli said. “It’s important that everyone take the time to search the website to see if there is any lost or forgotten money in their name. In this economy, every dollar counts.”

Representatives from DiNapoli’s office will be on-site at the Unclaimed Funds booth to help Fair attendees search for and claim lost money. New Yorkers may also check for unclaimed funds at or by calling toll free at 1-800-221-9311. Click here to read a fact sheet about the Office of Unclaimed Funds.
