Y2K Compliance: Data Collection for Federal Fund Reimbursement System

The Division of Veterans' Affairs maintains the Data Collection for Federal Fund Reimbursement System, which is used in obtaining federal reimbursement for the time spent by Division counselors on certain activities. We reviewed the actions taken by the Division in attempting to ensure that activities dependent on this system are not significantly disrupted because of data processing difficulties related to the year 2000. We found the Division is taking some of the actions needed to prevent such difficulties. However, the System must be tested to ensure that dates beyond the year 2000 will be processed accurately, and a contingency plan is needed to ensure that services are not disrupted if data processing difficulties are encountered in relation to the year 2000.
