Y2K Compliance: New York State Electronic Personnel System

The Department of Civil Service maintains the New York State Electronic Personnel System, which is used by State agencies to process certain personnel transactions. We conducted a review to assess whether the Department appears to be taking the necessary steps to address year 2000 problems for this automated system. The results of our review show that the Department is taking many of the steps necessary to address these problems. However, additional actions are needed to ensure that difficulties will not arise when data is received from other automated systems. A contingency plan also needs to be developed to allow business operations to continue if difficulties are encountered in relation to the year 2000.
