Y2K Compliance The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey uses three automated information systems to electronically process certain tolls on its four bridges and two tunnels, to support the collection of fares from riders of the Port Authority Trans Hudson Transit System, and to support payroll processing and human resource activities. We conducted a review to assess whether the Port Authority appears to be taking the necessary steps to address year 2000 problems for these three automated systems. The results of our review show that the Port Authority is taking many of the steps necessary to address these problems. However, contingency plans for the three systems must be completed to ensure that services are not disrupted if data processing difficulties are encountered in relation to the year 2000.
