Port Authority of New York and New Jersey
Regional Development Program (Follow-Up Review) In its Regional Development Program, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is to stimulate private investment and create or retain jobs in the inner cities of the Port Authority region by constructing and operating industrial parks and other types of facilities. In our prior audit report 97-S-37, we found that a number of jobs were created at the six sites with Program facilities, but private investment in the surrounding areas had not been stimulated to the extent intended. We recommended a number of actions that could be taken by the Port Authority to help the Program achieve its goals. In our follow-up review, we found that these recommendations have been implemented.
