Office of Tax Enforcement: Performance Measurement (Follow-Up Review) The Office of Tax Enforcement identifies and investigates the possible evasion by citizens and organizations of New York State taxes. In our prior audit report 95-S-85, we examined the procedures used by the Office to monitor its own performance. We found that, because the Office did not have measurable goals and objectives and did not use performance indicators, it could not adequately assess its efficiency and effectiveness. In our follow-up review, we found that some actions have been taken to address these weaknesses, but additional actions are still needed.
