Commission for the Blind and
Visually Handicapped: Performance of Selected Programs (Follow-Up Review)
The Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped is administered by
the Department of Social Services. In our prior audit report 95-S-83, we examined the
effectiveness of the vocational rehabilitation services provided by Commission contractors. The
goal of these services to enable clients to live independent lives. We found that the
Commission's oversight was adequate to ensure that the services were provided as intended, but
noted that the Commission could make better use of performance indicators to monitor the extent
to which the services helped clients live independent lives. In our follow-up review, we found
that good progress has been made in implementing our recommendations.
