Implementation of a Comprehensive Bridge Management System (Follow-Up Review)
The Department is required by law to develop a comprehensive program for managing and inspecting public bridges. In our prior audit report 93-S- 72, we found that the actions taken by the Department to develop such a program were consistent with legal requirements. However, we noted that the program would be improved if certain additional actions were taken and if a task force were created to resolve uncertainties relating to the Department's authority for administering the program. In our follow-up review, we found that the task force was created and good progress was made in implementing our other recommendations.
