Compliance with Executive Order 134 - Environmental Impact of Cleaning of Facilities
The Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD) operates 13 regional offices and a network of community-based not-for-profit agencies and State-operated programs occupying more than 1,500 buildings statewide. Executive Order 134 required all State agencies to procure and use cleaning products that minimize the potential impacts to human health and the environment. It also required the agencies to conduct an assessment of their programs to promote environmentally safe cleaning and transition to certain conforming products within specified time periods. We found that OMRDD had partially performed this assessment, but was not using environmentally preferred cleaning products. However, OMRDD officials took steps to fully comply with the Executive Order after our audit commenced.
