State Office of Homeland Security

Use of Homeland Security Funds

The State Office of Homeland Security oversees and coordinates the State’s response to terrorist threats and State efforts related to the detection and prevention of ,or recovery from, terrorist acts. The Office works closely with other State agencies, such as the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Division of State Police, and Division of Military and Naval Affairs. The agencies perform such activities as providing security personnel for sensitive infrastructures and equipping and deploying emergency response mobile units throughout the State. We examined these agencies’ use of State funds and federal homeland security grants. We identified certain areas in which improvements could be made in the controls over these funds. Our findings and recommendations were provided to agency officials during the course of our audit, but were not included in our public report due to the sensitivity of the information.
