Records Management Program Review

We evaluated the overall records management practices of the Department of Correctional Services. We also assessed the adequacy of specific Department practices for managing the electronic records created by its locator system, which is used to track the location of inmates within State correctional facilities. We conclude that the Department's records management practices are appropriate. However, the practices would be strengthened if periodic tests were conducted to ensure that the automated controls of the locator system were functioning as intended.
