Purpose

To provide agency procedures for processing payments.

Affected Employees

Graduate Student Employees (BU-28)

Effective Date

Payment will be in pay period A-20 Lag, check dated January 16, 2002

Eligibility Requirements

Chapter 29 of the Laws of 2001 provides for a cash lump sum payment of $175 or $350.

To be eligible for payment, an employee must be employed on January 2, 2002, and have been employed in the previous semester (Fall 2001). However, employees who had a break in service the previous semester, must have at least one semester of service in the semester immediately prior (Spring 2001).

Agency Processing Information

Employees on full assistantships are entitled to receive a cash lump sum payment of $350, and employees on less than full assistantships shall receive $175.

Effective pay period A-20 L, payments for eligible employees are to be processed through the Time Entry panel as follows:

Earnings Begin Date: 01/02/02
Earnings End Date: 01/02/02
Earn Code: RBP
Amount: $175 or $350

For non-resident aliens, the following Earnings Codes should be used:

XAI for income code 17Y
AI for income code 18
ZAI for income code 19

Payroll Register and Employee's Paycheck/Advice

The earnings code RBP (XAI, YAI, or ZAI) and the amount will be displayed on the payroll register. The earnings description Ratification Bonus Payment (Ratification Bonus Pymt IC17, IC18 or IC19) will be printed on the employee's pay stub or advice.
