Purpose

To provide instructions to agencies for processing the Salary Increases.

Background

Pursuant to Chapter 137, Section 16 of the Laws of 2004 and the 2003-2007 agreement between UUP and the State of New York, the basic annual salary of eligible employees should be increased by $500 effective April 1, 2007.

Affected Employees

SUNY employees in Bargaining Unit 08 who meet the eligibility criteria

Effective Date(s)

Effective April 5, 2007, paychecks dated May 2, 2007

Contract Provisions and Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the $500 salary increase, employees must be:

  • Granted a permanent or continuing appointment by the Chancellor effective on or before April 1, 2007, or
  • Granted a second five-year term appointment under Article XI, Title A of the Policies, effective on or before April 1, 2007.

Note:  Employees who receive the above appointments after the initial payment in Pay Period 1 but effective on or before July 1, 2007 are also eligible to receive the salary increase, payable effective the date the employee receives the appointment.

Eligible employees may receive the salary increase effective April 5, 2007 regardless of their professional obligation.

Agency Actions

To process the $500 salary increase in Pay Period 1, agencies must submit a Job Action Request transaction using the Action/Reason code of Pay Rate Change/SIC (Salary Increase) with the new salary and the effective date of 4/5/07.

Agencies must submit Pay Rate Change transactions using the Action/Reason code of Pay Rate Change/CSL (Correct Salary) to update any subsequent rows that appear on the employee’s Job Data record provided the employee remained in BU08.

To process the $500 salary increase for employees who become eligible after April 5, 2007 but on or before July 1, 2007, agencies must submit a Job Action Request transaction using the Action/Reason code of Pay Rate Change/SIC (Salary Increase) with the new salary and effective the date the employee becomes eligible.

Prior to submission of the stipend increases, agencies must update the Approved Salary Rate on the Position Data page of employees receiving the increases if the new salary is greater than the Approved Salary Rate on the Position Data page.
