New Deduction Code for PBA Disability Insurance Program

A new insurance program has been added for the Police Benevolent Association of the New York State Troopers. This insurance program will have a deduction code of 302, PBA Disability Insurance. This program is valid for agencies 01060 and 01069 with employees in Bargaining Units of 07, 17, 18, or 62.

Entry will be done on the General Deduction (Agency) Panels. This Panel can be found using the following path: Start, Compensate Employees, Maintain Payroll Data U.S., Use, General Deduction (Agency) and Update/Display All.

To initiate this deduction, agencies should first click or highlight the DEDUCTION CODE field and then either press the F7 key (insert row), or click on the INSERT ROW button on the top tool bar, and enter deduction code 302 and tab to the EFFECTIVE DATE field. To change this deduction code amount, scroll on the outside scroll bar until you locate the deduction code 302 and then press the F7 key, or click on the INSERT ROW button found on the top tool bar of your screen, tab to the EFFECTIVE DATE field. For adds and changes, enter the first day of the payroll period in which the deduction should take effect. Tab to the DEDUCTION CALCULATION ROUTINE field and click on the ‘FLAT AMOUNT’, tab to the FLAT/ADDL AMOUNT field and enter the amount of money the employee designated to be taken over a two-week period and SAVE the Panel. To cancel this deduction, scroll on the outside scroll bar until you locate deduction code 302. Once deduction code 302 is appearing, tab to the EFFECTIVE DATE field, press the F7 key, or click the INSERT ROW button on the top of the tool bar, and enter the first day of the payroll period you wish to stop the deduction. Tab to the DEDUCTION END DATE field and enter the same date you entered in the EFFECTIVE DATE field and SAVE the Panel.

This new deduction is effective immediately.
