OSC Actions

Full-time employees (bargaining unit T8) will have dues or agency shop fee calculated at 1.05%. Part-time employees (bargaining units AJ and GA) will have dues or agency shop fee calculated at 1.0%. Calculations are based on total gross earnings.

Employees holding a full-time position and a part-time position will pay the 1.05% for the full-time position and 1.0% for the part-time position. Employees holding two or more part-time positions will have 1.0% taken from each part-time position.

OSC will automatically start the agency shop fee for all employees in a part-time status if they do not currently pay union dues. Employees with a bargaining unit of AJ (Adjunct) will have an agency shop fee code of 468. Employees with a bargaining unit of GA (Graduate Assistant) will have an agency shop fee code of 470.

OSC will automatically change the dues code in PaySR for employees who are currently paying dues and working in a bargaining unit of AJ with a current deduction code of 274. The new dues code for Adjunct employees will be 467. Employees in bargaining unit GA with a current deduction code of 249 will remain the same.

The calculation routine for PSC members on the General Deduction Panel will be "Default to Deduction Table."

Listed below are some examples of what will print on an employee's pay stub.

If an employee is paying the agency shop fee and is working full time in only one position, then 1.05% will be deducted and the amount along with deduction code 290 will print on the employee's pay stub.

If an employee is paying dues and is working full time in only one position, then 1.05% will be deducted and the amount along with deduction code 274 will print on the employee's pay stub.

If an employee is paying dues and is working full time, and also working as a part-time Adjunct, the following would be printed on the employee's pay stubs:

  1. For the full-time position, 1.05% will be deducted and the amount along with deduction code 274 will print on the full-time pay stub.

  2. For the part-time Adjunct position, 1.0% will be deducted and the amount along with deduction code 468 will print on the pay stub.

If an employee is paying the agency shop fee and is working full time, and also working as a part-time Adjunct, the following would be printed on the employee's pay stub:

  2. For the part-time Adjunct position, 1.0% will be deducted and the amount along with deduction code 468 will print on the pay stub.

If an employee is paying dues and working as an Adjunct in more than one agency as a part-time employee, then all positions will have 1.0% deducted from each paycheck. However, one check will show the dues code 467 and the amount, and the other checks will show the agency shop fee code 468 and the amount.

If an employee is paying the agency shop fee and working as an Adjunct in more than one agency as a part-time employee, then all positions will have 1.0% deducted from each paycheck and the amount along with the deduction code of 468 will print on all pay stubs.

If an Adjunct employee is not paying dues or the agency shop fee, then the agency shop fee will be started automatically with the deduction code of 468.

If an employee is paying dues and working as a Graduate Assistant in two agencies, then both positions will have 1.0% deducted from each paycheck. However, one check will show the dues code 249 and the amount and the other check will show the agency shop fee code 470 and the amount.

If an employee is paying the agency shop fee and working as a Graduate Assistant in two agencies, then both positions will have 1.0% deducted from each paycheck and the amount along with the deduction code of 470 will print on both pay stubs.
