|Date: November 18, 2003||Bulletin No.443|
|Subject||Retroactive Adjustment of Service Credit Days for Hourly Employees Who Are Members of New York State Employees' Retirement System (ERS) or New York State and Local Police and Fire Retirement System (PFRS)|
|Purpose||To inform agencies that retroactive adjustments of service credit days for hourly employees have been calculated and reported to ERS.|
|Background||A change in the method used to calculate service credit days reported to ERS and PFRS for hourly employees was implemented in checks dated March 12, 2003 (see Payroll Bulletin #372, dated March 14, 2003). This change resulted in an increase in the number of days reported for employees working less than 75 hours a biweekly, plus the need for retroactive reporting for all affected employees.|
|OSC Actions||OSC has calculated differences for all affected employees from the beginning of PaySR through checks dated 3/6/03 and reported them to ERS. The majority of adjustments have been posted to employee accounts, although a small percentage that require additional research by ERS will be posted in the near future.|
|Agency Actions||Notify affected employees.|
