DiNapoli Appoints Nancy Hernandez Deputy Comptroller for Diversity

State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli announced today that he has appointed Nancy R. Hernandez as deputy comptroller for Diversity Programs. Hernandez served as a councilwoman and deputy supervisor for the Town of Colonie. She started her new position on April 26.

Hernandez replaces Celia Gonzalez who retired in the fall.

“Nancy Hernandez brings a wealth of experience to her new position,” DiNapoli said. “I am very pleased she has agreed to help spearhead this agency’s diversity initiatives and look forward to her creativity and thoughtfulness.”

Hernandez will oversee the affirmative action, diversity management, and equal employment opportunity programs for the Office of the State Comptroller, including accommodations made to comply with the American with Disabilities Act and Human Rights Law.

Prior to her work for Colonie, Hernandez was an affirmative action administrator with the New York State Department of Labor and the New York State Department of Social Services. She was a Career Opportunity Field Representative for the Department of Civil Service and an MWBE Special Assistant for the Facilities Development Corp.

She has a Masters of Public Administration from Marist College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the New York State University at Albany.

Her salary is $150,000.
