Y2K Compliance: Corporation Information System and Security Guard Licensing System

The Department of State maintains the Corporation Information System, which contains information about companies that are incorporated in New York. The Department also maintains the Security Guard Licensing System, which contains information about licensed security guards in New York. We reviewed the actions taken by the Department in attempting to ensure that activities dependent on these two systems are not significantly disrupted because of data processing difficulties related to the year 2000. We found the Department is taking many of the actions needed to prevent such difficulties. However, additional progress is needed in preparing contingency plans for the two systems to ensure that services are not disrupted if data processing difficulties are encountered in relation to the year 2000.
