Division of State Police
Y2K Compliance: Criminal Justice Information Systems The Division of State Police maintains the New York Statewide Police Information Network, which is used to communicate with other criminal justice agencies. The Division also maintains the Management Information Network, which contains information that is used in the investigation of crime. We reviewed the actions taken by the Division in attempting to ensure that activities dependent on these automated systems are not significantly disrupted because of data processing difficulties related to the year 2000. We found the Division is taking many of the actions needed to prevent such difficulties. However, additional progress is needed on the contingency plans for both systems to ensure that services are not disrupted if data processing difficulties are encountered in relation to the year 2000.
