Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance
Y2K Compliance: Child Support Management System, Federal Claims System, and Welfare Checks and Services System The Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) maintains the Child Support Management System (which is used in administering child support enforcement efforts), the Federal Claims System (which is used in obtaining Federal reimbursement for certain administrative expenses), and the Welfare Checks and Services System (which is used in administering public assistance benefits). We conducted a review to assess whether OTDA appears to be taking the necessary steps to address year 2000 problems for these three automated systems. The results of our review show that OTDA is taking many of the steps necessary to address these problems. However, the remediation of the Federal Claims System is not scheduled to be completed until September 1999, which may not allow OTDA enough time to resolve any unforeseen difficulties with the system.
