New York City Transit: Fare Evasion on the New York City Subway (Follow-Up Review)

In our prior audit report 95-S-121, we examined the procedures used by New York City Transit to quantify the extent of fare evasion and prevent fare evasion on the subway. We found indications that fare evasion rates may have been significantly overstated and identified weaknesses in the procedures used to prevent fare evasion. In our follow-up review, we found that Transit officials generally have not taken the corrective actions recommended in our prior report.
