Office for the Aging
Staff Study: Aging of New York State's Population The number of New Yorkers aged 60 or older is expected to increase. We reviewed New York State's long-range plans for serving these elderly citizens. We found that, while the Office for the Aging and other State agencies are addressing the needs of the growing elderly population, the State's overall planning and service delivery efforts are somewhat fragmented. We believe these efforts would be improved if they were coordinated by the Office for the Aging. In addition, we identified the need for effective long-range planning in the areas of health care, nutrition, housing, transportation and economic security for the elderly.
