Administration of Maintenance and Operations Incentive Aid Program (Follow-Up Review)

Localities are responsible for maintaining the court facilities in New York State. Under the incentive aid program, which is administered by the Office of Court Administration, the localities may be reimbursed by the State for a portion of their court facility maintenance and operating costs. To qualify for this reimbursement, the localities must maintain their court facilities in accordance with certain standards. In our prior audit report 96-S-23, we examined selected localities' compliance with these standards as well as some of their reimbursement claims. We found varying degrees of compliance with the standards and inaccuracies in the reimbursement claims. We recommended that the Office continue to work with noncompliant localities and clarify the reimbursement guidelines. In our follow-up review, we found that these recommendations have been fully implemented.
