Port Authority of New York and New Jersey
Regional Development Program In its Regional Development Program, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is to stimulate private investment and create or retain jobs in the inner cities of the Port Authority region by constructing and operating industrial parks and other types of facilities. We examined the extent to which the Port Authority has been successful in accomplishing these goals. We found that a number of jobs were created at the six sites with Program facilities. However, private investment in the surrounding areas has not been stimulated to the extent intended. We recommend a number of actions that can be taken by the Port Authority to help the Program achieve its goals.
