Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services
Outcome Evaluation System for Treatment Programs The Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) is in the process of implementing a system for evaluating the effectiveness of its alcohol and substance abuse treatment programs. We examined the status of the system and found that OASAS has made substantial progress in system implementation. However, full implementation has been delayed because of backlogs and errors in data entry. We recommend that these errors and backlogs be addressed by OASAS officials. We also examined whether program providers complied with the reporting requirements of the system. We found that the providers did comply with the reporting requirements.
