Research Foundation: Controls Over Direct Costs (Follow-Up Review)

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a not-for-profit corporation that raises funds, promotes research, and administers gifts and grants that support the educational activities of SUNY. In our prior audit report 93-S-64, we examined the Research Foundation's controls over direct expenditures and found that Foundation payments to subcontractors could be better controlled. We identified possible overpayments to subcontractors, which we recommended be investigated, and we also recommended that subcontractors be audited periodically. In our follow-up review, we found that periodic audits have been conducted, but the possible overpayments have yet to be investigated. 96-F-32
