Office of Mental Health
Manhattan Psychiatric Center:
Selected Financial Management Practices We examined selected financial
management practices at Manhattan Psychiatric Center. We found that, contrary to required
procedures, some employees did not charge leave accruals when they arrived late to work and
did not record the time when they left work. We also found that some equipment was not
placed under inventory control, some inventory records were incomplete, and identification
tags were not affixed to all items. We further found that improvements can be made in
certain Center procedures for ensuring that a fair share of the hospitalization costs are paid by
patients who can afford such payments.
