New York City Transit: Restricted Duty Assignments
(Follow-Up Review) New York City Transit employees who cannot
perform their normal duties because of injuries or medical conditions can be placed on
restricted duty. At the time of our prior audit report 92-S-91, 1,095 Transit employees were
on restricted duty. We identified improvements that could be made in the procedures used to
monitor and assign these employees. In our follow-up review, we found that most of these
improvements have been made. For example, procedures have been developed for ensuring
that employees on restricted duty are given productive assignments.
