Community Residence Purchasing Practices
Many clients of OMRDD are housed in community residences, the operations of which are overseen by 20 regional offices. We examined the procedures used by five regional offices to monitor expenditures for nonpersonal services such as food, supplies, rentals and utilities. We found that the procedures generally provided for adequate internal controls. We also found that the procedures used by some of the regional offices were better than the procedures used by other regional offices, and OMRDD's controls over community residence purchasing would be improved if the better procedures were adopted by all the regional offices.
