Purpose
To determine if the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (Office) met all Federal security requirements for securing National Directory of New Hires (Directory) data. The audit covers the period of February 27, 2012 through March 30, 2012.

Background
The Office is responsible for supervising State programs that provide assistance and support to eligible families and individuals. One of these programs is the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program (Needy Families Program). This program provides assistance to needy families with (or expecting) children, and promotes individual responsibility and family independence. As part of managing this program, the Office obtains Directory data to verify Needy Families Program eligibility information. All State agencies that receive and process Directory data must demonstrate a strong security posture, and must comply with the security requirements established by the Department of Health and Human Services as well as the Office of Child Support Enforcement.

Key Findings

  • The Office has taken sufficient actions to comply with all applicable federal requirements for securing Directory data.
