Physical Access and Wireless Controls at Colleges (Follow-Up)

The City University of New York (CUNY) consists of eleven senior colleges, six community colleges, and several other specialized and professional schools. These colleges and schools have computer networks and data centers. In report 2008-S-69, we examined CUNY’s oversight of campus computer resources, and selected colleges’ data center physical access and wireless controls, and found improvements were needed. Our detailed findings and recommendations were provided to CUNY officials, but were not included in our public report due to the sensitivity of the information. When we followed-up on these matters, we found that CUNY management, both centrally and at the campuses, made progress in correcting some of the problems we identified. However, additional improvements were needed.
