Use of State Funding for Research into Emerging Technologies at the State University of New York at Albany: Cancer Genomics

The Research Foundation of the State University of New York is a not-for-profit corporation that raises funds, promotes research, and administers gifts and grants that support the educational activities of the State University of New York. The University at Albany Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that raises funds and performs other activities in support of the programs of the University. We examined whether these two entities spent $47.3 million in State funding provided for cancer genomic research at the University in accordance with the terms and conditions of the funding. We found that the funding was spent as intended to construct and equip various cancer genomic research facilities and to support research conducted at those facilities.
