Battery Park City Authority

Compliance with Executive Order 134 - Environmental Impact of Cleaning of Facilities

Battery Park City Authority was created to supervise the development of a planned residential and commercial community in lower Manhattan. Executive Order 134 required State agencies and certain public authorities such as Battery Park City Authority to procure and use cleaning products that minimize the potential impacts to human health and the environment. It also required the agencies to conduct an assessment of their programs to promote environmentally safe cleaning and transition to certain conforming products within specified time periods. We found that the Authority was not aware of the Executive Order when we initiated our audit. Nonetheless, the Authority had adopted its own environmental initiatives and was in substantial compliance with the Order.
