Metro New York Developmental Disabilities Services Office: Internal Controls Over Payroll and Purchasing Practices (Follow-Up Report)

State-funded services to individuals with developmental disabilities in Manhattan and the Bronx are delivered or overseen by OMRDD’s Metro New York Developmental Disabilities Services Office (DDSO). In audit 2006-S-3, we examined the DDSO’s internal controls over payroll and purchasing practices and found that certain improvements were needed. For example, several paychecks were issued to individuals after their employment had ended and the DDSO’s budget for overtime was unrealistically low. When we followed up on our audit recommendations, we found that they had, for the most part, been implemented.
