Contracting Practices at Selected Campuses (Follow-Up Report)

In audit report 2005-S-37, we examined contracting practices at eight SUNY campuses and found that contracts were generally awarded in accordance with applicable contracting requirements. However, the contractual services were sometimes initiated before the contracts were formally approved, and the participation of minority and women-owned business enterprises often was not encouraged when prospective contractors were solicited. We recommended that certain improvements be made in SUNY’s contracting practices, and when we followed up on these matters with SUNY officials, we found that our recommendations had been implemented.
