Medicaid Claims Processing for the Six Months Ended March 31, 2007

New York State’s Medicaid program is administered by the Department of Health. Medicaid claims are processed and paid by an automated system (eMedNY) that is operated by a contractor. We examined the Medicaid claims processed during the six months ended March 31, 2007 to determine whether the claims were processed in accordance with requirements. We prevented the payment of $60,478 to a pharmacist who had been arrested for defrauding Medicaid, and also identified and prevented certain other inappropriate payments.
