Office of General Services

Network Security Controls (Follow-Up Report)

The Office of General Services (OGS) provides various support services to State agencies, public authorities, municipalities and other political subdivisions of New York State. In carrying out these responsibilities, OGS makes considerable use of its Internet web site and other interconnected electronic data processing systems. OGS uses a computer network to facilitate its electronic data processing activities. In audit report 2004-S-65, we examined selected aspects of the security controls in place over this network, and identified certain areas in which the controls needed to be improved. When we followed up to determine whether our audit recommendations had been implemented, we found that progress had been made but additional actions still needed to be taken. Due to the sensitivity of the information, our detailed audit findings and recommendations were not included in either our original audit report or our follow-up report.
