State Office of Homeland Security

Use of Homeland Security Funds (Follow-Up Report)

The State Office of Homeland Security works closely with other State agencies, such as the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Division of State Police, and Division of Military and Naval Affairs. The agencies perform such activities as providing security personnel for sensitive infrastructures and equipping and deploying emergency response mobile units throughout the State. In audit report 2004-S-15, we examined these agencies’ use of State funds and federal homeland security grants. We identified certain areas in which improvements could be made in the controls over these funds. When we followed up to determine whether our audit recommendations had been implemented, we found that most of the recommendations had been implemented. Due to the sensitivity of the information, our detailed audit findings and recommendations were not included in either our original audit report or our follow-up report.
