Workers' Compensation Board

Selected Aspects of Claims Processing (Follow-Up Report)

The Workers' Compensation Board oversees the adjudication and payment of compensation claims relating to workplace injuries. The Board relies heavily on automated information systems to process the claims. In audit report 2005-S-22, we examined selected aspects of the Board’s claims processing activities. We identified opportunities for improvements in the areas of case activity documentation, performance monitoring and payment monitoring. We also found that improvements were needed in disaster recovery planning and in controls that were intended to restrict system access to authorized users only. When we followed up on these matters with Board officials, we found that good progress had been made in the implementation of our audit recommendations.
