Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance

Written Support of Internal Controls Over the Automated Claiming System

The Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) provides income support and other services to able-bodied people seeking employment and people who cannot work because of temporary or permanent disability. Financial information about OTDA’s programs is maintained on its automated claiming system. Some of this information is reported to the Office of the State Comptroller for inclusion in New York State’s comprehensive annual financial report. We audited the written support for OTDA’s internal controls over its automated claiming system and found that, in most areas, this written support was adequate. Consequently, if the controls are followed, there is a reduced risk of significant misstatements in the financial information included in the State’s comprehensive annual financial report.
