Homeland Security Grant

Between April 1, 2003 and October 30, 2005, New York City received almost $27 million in federal homeland security grant funds. New York City’s use of these funds was overseen by the State Office of Homeland Security and the Division of Criminal Justice Services. We examined the State’s oversight and New York City’s use of these grant funds. We identified certain areas in which improvements could be made in the controls over the funds. Our findings and recommendations were provided to agency officials during the course of our audit, but were not included in our public report due to the sensitivity of the information.
