Tenth Judicial District: Suffolk County District Court, Selected Revenue and Time and Attendance Practices (Follow-Up Report)

In audit report 2000-S-52, we found that improvements were needed in certain internal controls related to revenue collection at the Suffolk County District Court. For example, checks received in the mail were not logged in at the time of receipt, and many unpaid fees and fines had been outstanding for several years. We also found that employee use of sick leave could be monitored more effectively. When we followed up to determine whether our audit recommendations had been implemented, we found that some actions had been taken by Court officials but additional actions were needed.
