University at Albany: Network Security Controls

The University at Albany offers undergraduate and graduate education in a broad range of academic fields. The University’s computers are used for many different academic and administrative purposes by students, instructors and staff. We examined the adequacy of the University’s controls for preventing unauthorized access to its academic and administrative computer network. We found that certain improvements could be made in these controls. So as not to compromise the security of the network, our detailed findings and recommendations were not included in our report, but were presented separately to University officials throughout the course of our audit.
