General Controls at the Consolidated State Data Centers (Follow-Up Review)

The Office for Technology (OFT) operates four data centers that support the data processing requirements of several State agencies. The information stored in the data centers includes sensitive and confidential information, such as health and tax records. In our initial audit report 2002-S-46, we examined OFT’s disaster readiness and its controls over data security. We determined that certain improvements could be made by OFT in both these areas. Due to the sensitivity of these areas, our detailed findings and recommendations were not included in our final public report, but were presented separately to OFT in a confidential draft report. In our follow-up review, we found that OFT officials had made significant progress in implementing these recommendations.
