New York City Division of Citywide Administrative Services

Monitoring of the Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Program (Follow-Up Review)

Vehicles owned by New York City agencies are serviced by contractors that are monitored by the New York City Division of Citywide Administrative Services. In our prior audit report 2001-N-3, we examined the effectiveness of the Divisionís monitoring activities. We found that appropriate controls had been established by the Division. However, we identified the need for improvement in the Divisionís monitoring of vehicle repairs and maintenance, as some of the vehicles enrolled in the service program may not have belonged to City agencies, unauthorized repair shops were used by some City agencies, and some maintenance services were not completed in a timely manner. In our follow-up review, we found that Division officials had made progress in implementing the recommendations contained in our prior report.
