Overseeing Access to Food Stamp Benefits (Follow-Up Review)

The Food Stamp Program in New York State is overseen by the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) and is directly administered by 58 local social services districts. In our prior audit report 99-S-45, we evaluated the adequacy of the access provided to food stamp benefits and found that certain controls over the process of providing access could be improved. In our follow-up review, we found that our prior audit recommendations had been implemented, and as a result, the controls had been improved.
