Division of Human Rights

Complaint Processing (Follow-Up Review)

Allegations of discrimination are investigated and adjudicated by the Division of Human Rights. According to State law, these investigations must be completed, and any resulting hearings initiated, within a certain amount of time. In our prior audit report 99-S-27, we examined the Divisionís complaint processing activities and found that the statutory time frames were routinely exceeded. We recommended a number of actions that could be taken by the Division to expedite its processing of complaints. In our follow-up review, we found that most of our recommendations had been implemented.
