Contract with New York City to Maintain State Court Facilities

The Office of Court Administration (OCA) contracts with local municipalities to clean and maintain the State court facilities located in those municipalities. We examined OCA’s contract with the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services for the cleaning and maintenance of the 28 facilities used by State courts and related agencies in New York City. We determined that a refund of $322,297 was due the State from the $13.7 million paid to the contractor, mainly because some of the expenses claimed by the contractor were not documented or were not eligible for reimbursement. We also found that certain improvements could be made in OCA’s monitoring of contractor performance.
