Disability Determinations for Public Assistance Recipients (Follow-Up Review)

Most public assistance recipients are required to seek employment or receive job-related training in order to maintain their benefits. However, employment requirements may be modified for recipients with mental and physical disabilities. The Department of Labor is responsible for monitoring the disability determinations made by local social services districts. In our prior audit report 2000-S-23, we examined the Department’s monitoring and found that the Department was in the process of conducting reviews at each of the local districts. In our follow-up review, we found that these reviews had been completed as planned.
