Coordination of Transportation for the Elderly (Follow-Up Review)

The State Office for the Aging (SOFA) oversees a network of 59 Local Area Agencies on Aging, which are required by law to develop a plan for providing services to elderly citizens, including transportation services. In our prior audit report 98-S-35, we examined SOFA’s oversight of the planning process for transportation services and found that, if certain actions were taken by SOFA, unmet transportation needs among elderly citizens could be identified more reliably and prioritized more effectively. In our follow-up review, we found that good progress had been made in implementing the recommendations contained in our prior report.
